Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, the second installment of the Sherlock Holmes series set to open later this year, revisits the adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and his trusted companion Dr. John Watson (Jude Law).  A sequel to critically acclaimed 2009 film Sherlock Holmes, the plot focuses on the modern revival of the Sherlock Holmes franchise by taking on Holmes’ arch nemesis, Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris).

After the illustrious Crowned Prince of Austria is mysteriously found dead, Sherlock Holmes is called to the scene of the crime to investigate.  Upon being declared a suicide, Holmes realizes a murder has taken place and delves deeper into the mind of the criminal.  What he finds may threaten his title of “smartest man alive”.

Professor Moriarty, criminal master mind extraordinaire, has a less than dubious record of death and murder.  Coupled with his unbridled intelligence and his lack of remorse or compassion, he very well might maintain a slight competitive advantage against our protagonist, Holmes.  After saving a gypsy from a murder attempt by Professor Moriarty, Holmes sets out on a European adventure to stop the ghastly Moriarty.  If he doesn’t, these petty crimes could have large, devastating consequences for the entire world.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and based on characters by Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows plans to live up to the large expectations laid out in the first feature film.  As a master of disguise and a genius in his own right, Robert Downey Jr. seeks to bring to life one of the most beloved fictitious characters of all times and allow us to tag along for the ride.
