Haywire, a 2012 action-drama film, stars an all-star ensemble of actors, including Ewan Mcgregor, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, and Michael Douglas. Set and filmed almost entirely in London, the film followers a globe-trotting secret agent that has been cornered and betrayed several ally nations that presumably want her dead.
A national weapon, Mallory (Gina Carano) is an indispensable tool for the United States. A former marine, her job requires her to assist foreign governments and militaries in the jobs that they otherwise would not have the authority to do contingent of the approval of head of states. Following orders to retrieve a hostage in Spain, she is summoned to Ireland for an “important” meeting.
While there, she is betrayed by her fellow agent and double crossed. He tries to kill her but ends up crossing the wrong agent. She then is forced to flee Dublin and find a way back to the United States to enact revenge on her former employer and protect her family from any harm that might come their way.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Haywire has received outstanding reviews for its story, continuity, and acting. If the fight scenes seem quite lifelike, it’s because Carano is actually a former MMA world champion, reaching as high as number three in the world. With great actors, an in-depth story, and some fun action, Haywire sets the bar high for this genre of movie in 2012.
