The sequel to the 2007 film 2 Days in Paris, 2 Days in New York is a romantic comedy that presents the next chapter in Marion’s (Julie Delpy’s) life. Having broken up with the father of her child and left her native Paris, Marion is now living in Manhattan with Mingus (Chris Rock) with their cat and two children from previous relationships. Everything is going great between Marion and Mingus until visitors arrive and turn their lives upside down.
Marion’s father Jeannot (Albert Delpy, also Julie’s real-life dad), oversexed sister Rose (Alexia Landeau) and Rose’s outrageous boyfriend Manu (Alexandre Nahon) all descend upon Marion and Mingus’ household for two very unforgettable days. Between their unwitting racism and sexual frankness, the cultural differences that exist between Marion and Mingus’ backgrounds are laid bare for all to see. With their relationship suddenly pushed to its limit, Marion and Mingus are left to navigate the turmoil that her family’s visit has caused.
2 Days in New York, which was directed by Julie Delpy, is set for a limited release by Magnolia Pictures on August 10, 2012.
